In contrast to alternative Tracking Log Analysis
solutions, StealthAUDIT differs both architecturally and in the
methodology used to gather the desired information. Traditional
Tracking Log Analysis solutions are typically network bandwidth and
storage intensive, while StealthAUDIT eliminates the need to copy
the entire log to a centralized repository, doing its processing on
the remote Exchange server.
StealthAUDIT is a completely agent- less
solution, but exceptions have been made in order to provide a
better methodology for gathering mail-flow and message statistics
from your environment. When using the ExchangeMetrics Data
Collector, upon job execution StealthAUDIT will deploy a small
applet to the targeted Exchange servers. This applet will process
each tracking log within a defined date-range and summarize the
tracking log into an XML Summary File approximately 3-4% of the
size of the original log. This information can be retained on the
Exchange server for future reference and historical trend analysis,
while the data you've requested is returned to StealthAUDIT’s
SQL database for reporting purposes.
|
Because the ExchangeMetrics Data Collector is a
slight departure from StealthAUDIT’s standard Data Collector
architecture, STEALTHbits has taken the following precautions to
ensure safety and security during every job run:
-
Intelligence – The applet that is deployed to the remote
Exchange server is an intelligent applet. It will monitor the
resource consumption on the machine to ensure the normal server
operations occur uninterrupted, like heavy mail traffic or
backups.
-
Flexibility – The user has the ability within the
StealthAUDIT interface to choose whether or not the applet or the
summary data is to remain on the server, or if it is to restore the
server to its original state. If the applet is left behind, it will
not remain within system memory; therefore it will not consume any
server resources or run as a process unless it is called upon.
- Safety
– Precautions have been taken within the StealthAUDIT
interface to ensure that the proper level of administrator access
is assigned to each job using the ExchangeMetrics Data Collector.
This ensures that unauthorized personal cannot run tracking log
analysis jobs unless authorized to do so. This Data collector will
leverage the same ports as the standard StealthAUDIT Data
Collectors.
Benefits
- Gauge
mail-flow throughout the environment and Delivery Time Statistics
to analyze Server Performance and SLA Metrics.
-
Determine Top Senders and Top Receivers to assist in load-balancing
efforts, discover exceeded quotas and mailbox limits, and identify
potential mail viruses sending unauthorized messaged to other
mailboxes.
- Identify
where mail is going to and coming from both within and outside the
organization.
- Analyze
Distribution list usage to provide key data needed to cleanup and
maintenance of the Distribution Lists within the environment.
