HAWTHORNE, NJ, October 14, 2014 – STEALTHbits Technologies, Inc., today announced it has received certification of its integration with ServiceNow. Certification by ServiceNow signifies that the StealthAUDIT® Management Platform has successfully completed a set of defined tests focused on integration interoperability, security, and performance. The certification also ensures best practices are utilized in the design and implementation of the StealthAUDIT Management Platform’s integration with ServiceNow.
The StealthAUDIT Management Platform provides organizations detailed, highly scalable data collection and analysis capabilities across a wide variety of systems and applications like File Systems, SharePoint, Active Directory, and Operating Systems for use in addressing security, compliance, and operational management concepts. The integration enables ServiceNow customers to further streamline service management efficiency and proactively address advanced threats and compliance requirements using the same interface and workflows they’ve adopted for a multitude of IT-related issues and processes.
The primary use cases initially addressed by the integration are:
- Active Directory Account Lockouts – When users become locked out of Active Directory, they are unable to log into their workstation. Typically, by the time this is identified, an incident is created (which isn’t easy without workstation access), hours have passed, and the result is lost productivity for the user and the service desk. This is a leading time-consumer for many service desk organizations.
- Local Administrator Changes – Changes made to escalate a user’s privileges often go unnoticed, and are a leading cause of data breaches and insider theft. Reviewing each privilege escalation as they occur allows IT to stay on top of the organization’s constantly evolving threat surface.
- Active Directory Clean-up – Keeping Active Directory well-structured and maintained is critical to preserving operational health and security within an organization. Identifying dormant, misconfigured, and unsecure objects for remediation facilitates greater health and security for Active Directory.
- Open File Shares – Inappropriate permissions applied to shared folders can leave sensitive data open to any account who wants to access it. These situations are often difficult to identify and in order to resolve them quickly, clear instructions on the required permission changes are needed before more issues can arise.
“The data we’re feeding to ServiceNow will drastically expedite issue resolution in areas concerning security and compliance that organizations can’t easily automate today in any other way,” says Jeff Warren, STEALTHbits’ VP of Product Management. “Problems that lead to advanced persistent threats and insider theft can be quickly identified and resolved through the same system being used to handle all other IT workflows. Being able to proactively identify and resolve issues like these allows organizations to achieve more advanced security and control – in addition to compliance – and keep their data and reputations safe.”
